I use my heart, my mind and my eyes to take pictures because photography is not just about seeing; it is also about feeling

About Chrissie

Chrissie is an international award-winning photographer with many years experience.  She has achieved wide recognition for capturing the beautiful scenery around her home on Mersea Island in Essex.  She also specialises in street and informal portraiture.  Her stunning portraits are now very collectable, with many being held in private collections around the world.

Chrissie says "A photographic image can expose so many emotions and almost always transcends nations.  Images are such a capable and powerful way of exposing situations of conflict and misery throughout the world and offer a compelling means of bringing about change.

When I am travelling, I am not just a photographer, I am also an observer.  I always maintain a balanced view of people and connect with them as human beings, rather than strangers worthy of my compassion.  I look for what we have in common, not for that which makes us distant.

I constantly hope that my pictures will make a difference.

Landscape photography

Landscape photography and capturing the changing seasons, around my home on Mersea Island, is always a delight.  I love those fleeting, but magical moments, that transform 'everyday' into something astonishing.  The intense colours of the setting sun, the pastel hues of the moon rising over the sea, or watching the light dancing on the waves, all these things give me such pleasure.

The essence of being a photographer is gratitude.  I am constantly grateful for the opportunity to 'see' and whatever the subject, make lasting images, that allow me to share what I have seen with others.  I get a great feeling of satisfaction when people really look into my images, rather than just at them."

Chrissie's work has been published in many magazines, newspapers and online publications.  These include the Blue Lotus Arts Magazine [an International magazine dedicated to Asian Arts & Cultures] Coast Magazine, Essex Life, Yachts & Yachting, Classic Boat & Yachting Monthly.

Her images have also been on display at The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Mall Gallery, The Menier Gallery, The Royal Albert Hall, The Greenwich Museum, The Geedon Gallery, Liverpool Street Station and many other reputable local galleries.

When his Royal Highness, the Earl of Wessex visited Mersea Island, Chrissie was one of the Artists chosen to be introduced to him and invited to put on a display of her images.
